Heather Winterstein Foundation

Heather Winterstein was a 24-year-old woman who tragically died while making attempts to access emergency medical care, over two days in December 2021. Her passing shines a light on the need for regional, provincial and national reform of healthcare. In particular, the story of Heather Winterstein highlights inequity which affects people who suffer from Mental Health needs, substance use disorder and Indigenous people. 

This fund was established to honour Heather's legacy and to support charitable organizations focusing on holistic healthcare for indigenous communities in the Niagara region.
