Memorial & Tribute Gifts
Knowing how to honour the life of a loved one can feel daunting and overwhelming, but you're not alone.
NCF is Here to Help
In times of grief and sorrow, families, friends, and communities are often compelled to give a tangible gift to help honour the life of a loved one. Niagara Community Foundation (NCF) is here to help you turn that gift into a lasting legacy for generations to come. Here's how:
1. Decide on what type of fund you want to establish.
NCF's staff will meet with you to learn about what causes or charities you want to support; we are the charity of charities. Once we know your intention, we can decide what type of fund makes the most sense for you. Whether your fund supports a specific charity, a cause close to your heart, or the community that you call home, your named fund can be tailored to meet your unique philanthropic wishes. We will draw up a simple fund agreement specifying your intention (no lawyers required), and then we can move into action right away.
It's important to note, you don't have to have a large gift to get started. You can open a Memorial or Tribute Fund in anticipation of donations. It's not about the size of the gift, it's about the intention behind it.

2. NCF will create a custom donation form for your fund that is ready to accept donations within 24 hours.
This donation page lives on the NCF website, with a custom URL and provides you with a secure place for online donations to be accepted. All donations will be directed to your fund and receive an automatic tax receipt.
NCF staff can help create custom donation cards to receive cheque and credit card donations, as well as any additional signage you may need for memorials, a celebration of life, or donation table.
3. Build a lasting legacy
After the initial season of grief, you can continue to receive donations on anniversaries, special occasions or milestones. Your fund becomes a legacy that will continue to have impact for generations to come.
NCF is here to help. Contact our Executive Director, Bryan Rose, and we can walk with you through this process.
